Amber Davis

Amber Alejo Rowley Davis (born July 29, 1985, Mesa, Arizona), simply known as Amber, is a Filipino-American singer.

After high school, she moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her singing career. She was background vocalist to singers Hilary Duff and Kashiff. In 2004 she signed with W.A.R. Entertainment for two singles for the movie soundtrack Playa’s Ball. After that she moved to Osaka, Japan to become lead vocalist of rock and hip hop show “Enwhy” at Universal Studios Japan.

MBLAQ

MBLAQ, (an acronym for Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality) is a South Korean quintet boy band created by Korean pop R&B singer Rain under his label J.Tune Entertainment. The members include Seung Ho, G.O, Joon, Thunder, and Mir. The group debuted in October 9, 2009 at Rain’s Legend of Rainism concert. On October 14, 2009 the group released their debut single album, “Just BLAQ”, which topped various on-line and off-line music charts in South Korea. The group then released their second single Y in May 18, 2010.

Korean, Japanese hip-hop artists to perform at music fest

Several of the biggest names in Korean and Japanese hip-hop will be taking the stage for a summer music festival next weekend in Korea, according to the concert’s promoter TYPE Communication on Friday.

TYPE announced in a press release that Japanese rappers Zeebra, Simon and Dabo will be performing along Korean artists such as LeeSSang and Jung-in, Supreme Team, Double K and SOUL DIVE for the “What’s Up Summer Hiphop Festival” to be held at the Walker Hill Theater on August 28.

CNBLUE tops weekly music charts in Taiwan

Four-member rock band CNBLUE has topped two weekly music charts in Taiwan with their mini-album “Bluetory,” according to their agency FNC Music on Tuesday.

FNC announced in a press release that the group’s Korean mini-album “Bluetory” took the No. 1 spot on Taiwan’s G-Music and Five Music weekly music chart during the week of August 6 to 12, placing ahead of Super Junior’s fourth full-length record “BONAMANA” and SS501′s first Japanese single “Kokoro.”

Rescheduled dates for Taeyang’s concerts announced

Idol group Big Bang singer Taeyang’s first solo concert has been rescheduled for September 25 and 26, according to his agency YG Entertainment’s CEO Yang Hyun-suk on Tuesday.

The concert, originally set for September 4 and 5, had been postponed “for more time to perfect things for the show” with the singer being busy with promotional work in Japan and shooting a commercial with his five-man band.

Kara

Kara is a popular girl group from South Korea signed with Daesung Entertainment (DSP). The band name Kara comes from the Greek Word “chara” (χαρά, lit. “joy”), which the group interpreted to mean “sweet melody”.

Kara becomes first Asian girl group to rank in Oricon’s top 5

Korean female idols Kara will become the first Asian girl group to place in the top 10 on Japan’s prestigious Oricon chart, according to Japanese publication Oricon Style on Tuesday.

Oricon Style reported that the Oricon chart will announce on August 23 that Kara will place at No. 5 on its weekly singles chart, making them the first Asia girl group to rank in the top 10.

X Japan

X Japan is a Japanese heavy metal band founded in 1982 by Toshimitsu “Toshi” Deyama and Yoshiki Hayashi. Originally named X (エックス), the group achieved its breakthrough success in 1989 with the release of their second album Blue Blood. They started out as a power/speed metal band and later gravitated towards a progressive sound, at all times retaining an emphasis on ballads. After three more albums, X Japan disbanded in 1997.
