Changmin and Lee Hyun’s "They Live Well" takes first place

Latest duet “They Live Well” by 2AM’s Changmin and 8eight’s Lee Hyun took first place on Gaon’s singles chart during the second week of August.

The duo stepped up a notch from last week to No. 1 for their first win on the chart, pushing back previous winner “I’m a Guy Like This” by DJ DOC to second place while BoA’s latest single “Hurricane Venus” also made its way to the top tier during the week of August 8 to 14.

Zia takes over Mnet’s singles chart with "Laughter"

Korean pop star Zia has taken over Mnet’s singles chart with her latest song “Laughter” during the second week of August.

The singer’s new song “Laughter” made an incredible 31-slot jump to first place, displacing former winner “I’m a Guy Like This” from hip-hop trio DJ DOC to the No. 5 spot.

FT Island unveils teaser video and cover for new album

Korean rock band FT Island unveiled a teaser video and cover for their new mini-album today, according to the band’s agency FNC Music on Wednesday.

A press release from FNC announced that the group, who will be returning to the local music scene after a year, will be releasing their second mini-album titled “beautiful journey” on August 25.

Sung Min

Lee Sung-min (born January 1, 1986), better known mononymously as Sungmin, is a Korean pop singer, and actor. Sungmin is also a martial artist, being one of the two members of the group to frequently perform Chinese martial arts in Super Junior‘s dance routines, the other being Han Geng.

Sungmin was born in the Ilsan district of Goyang, Gyeonggi. He has a younger brother, Lee Sungjin. He entered the 2001 SM Youth Best Contest and jointly won first place for the Best Outward Appearance award with future band mate Donghae. Together, they signed a contract with SM Entertainment and began to receive training in singing, dancing, and acting.

Shindong

Shindong 04Shin Dong-hee (born September 28, 1985), better known by his stage name Shindong, is a Korean pop singer, actor, presenter, and a member of the super boy band Super Junior. One of the four lead dancers of the group, Shindong is also a rapper, often co-writing rap lyrics and rhythms with Eunhyuk.

Shindong was born in Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang on September 28, 1985. Having a love for dancing, Shindong signed up for the 2002 Goyangsi Youth Dance contest and won the grand prize. A year later, he joined the contest again and won gold. In 2004, Shindong joined the Mnet Epi Contest and won both the gold prize and popularity award. In 2005, Shindong signed up for the SM Best Youth Contest and won first place for Best Comedian, achieving the grand prize. He signed a contract with SM Entertainment and received lessons to further improve Shindong’s dancing ability.

Kang In

Kang In 05Kim Young-woon (born January 17, 1985), better known by his stage name Kang-in, is a Korean pop singer, actor, MC, presenter, and a member of the super boy band Super Junior. His name ‘Kang-in’ (Hanja: 強仁), meaning strong benevolence, was given to him to complement his personality.

Kang-in was scouted by a talent agent and was recommended to sign up for SM Entertainment’s talent competitions. In 2002, Kang-in won first place on the fourth annual SM Youth Best Contest and won the best outward appearance award and signed a contract with SM Entertainment.

He is one of the three lead vocalists of the super boy band Super Junior. He was once a radio host for his own radio program, M.I.R.A.C.L.E for You, which ended its broadcast in September 2007. His stage name Yesung (Hanja: 藝聲) is translated to “art-like voice” and is derived from the phrase “예술가의 성대”, meaning “vocal chords of an artist.”

Leeteuk

Leeteuk 03Park Jung-soo, better known by his stage name Leeteuk, is a Korean pop singer, presenter, and occasional actor. He is the leader of the super boy band Super Junior.

In early 2000, Park Jung-su was scouted by a talent agent in Myeongdong. He was asked to audition for the Starlight Casting System 2000, which soon signed him into SM Entertainment that same year. Park made an extremely brief cameo appearance in the MBC Korean drama All About Eve in 2000 and was also a model for Pepsi. He was then put into a five-member boy band along with his future Super Junior bandmate, Donghae by his talent agency before this idea was dropped. Some of the names for this group were OK, Pricor and Smile. After he was put in Super Junior, Park wanted a stage name similar to Kangta and thus chose the name Leeteuk. Teuk, which means “special.” This was explained on “Happy Together Friends”.

JeongRainJi-hoon (Korean: 정지훈; born June 25, 1982), often known simply as Rain, is a South Korean pop singer, dancer, model, actor, CEO and designer.

Rain spent most of his childhood living with his parents and younger sister, Jeong Hanna, near Hongik University. Despite being an introverted and shy child, he discovered he had a passion for dance when he performed in a talent show for Sungmoon Junior High School. Rain initially had a difficult time balancing dance and academics and received low grades during the beginning of junior high because of his frequent dance practices. He decided to follow his passion and attended Anyang High School of Arts, where he received his first formal instruction in acting and was able to continue dancing as well. Rain again found he could not focus on both dance and his studies in acting; he was truant on several occasions.
