cariño_brutal Slapshock’s newest album titled "Cariño Brutal" was released in 2009 via PolyEast Records. Its is a double cd package, an audio and a dvd of the band’s latest road tours in Canada and the U.S. in 2008/2009. Take a trip with the band as they take you behind the scenes, the struggles and the successes of their wonderful musical journey experience in North America. The album is self produced by the band and recorded at Evil Clown Studios at Project 6, Quezon City with Lean Ansing as sound engineer… J.D. Wong (PopShuvit) did mixing chores brilliantly at Stuio 21:05 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was then mastered in San Francisco, California, U.S.A by mastering genius John Greenham.

Jamir Garcia

Jamir Garcia is a Filipino singer better known as the frontman of the nu metal band, Slapshock.

The band was formed during the University of the Philippines Fair on the 14th of February in 1997, which marked their first ever gig. The band’s name came from funky guitar plucking and chord slapping technique that characterized much of the nu metal sound.

Slapshock

Slapshock is a metal band from Manila, Philippines that was formed in 1996. They started as a NU metal band and progressed to a metalcore band in their later years.

The group was formed on 14 February, 1996 by several students at UP Diliman, with original vocalist Reynold Munsayac; he was soon replaced with guitarist Jerry Basco’s cousin, Jamir Garcia. Heavily influenced by American East Coast rap, they played in clubs in Manila in the 1990s before signing to EMI Philippines and releasing their debut album, 4th Degree Burn, in 1999. The group has released five albums and been met with sustained commercial success in the Philippines, particularly with their third album, Project 11-41.
